Idea Generation
Innovation Age helped refresh the idea pipeline of general insurance innovation for RBS Insurance. The engagement involved working with the internal innovation team to generate new product ideas, applying value filters and defining the delivery approach for the pipeline once created.
A wealth of new ideas were generated and formed into a coherent pipeline of activity. The keys ones that were taken forward with Innovation Age's help were a mobile-friendly insurance proposition and the development of an ideas lab on Facebook.
Pilot
Innovation Age ran a pilot for RBS Insurance of an new general insurance product that had not been tried in the UK before. The engagement involved formulating the proposition from an existing idea to a point where it was ready for use by customers, agreeing all aspects of the scope of the pilot (duration, selected customers, product features, marketing, etc) managing the launch of the pilot and finally overseeing the pilot operation during the live period.
This was a large-scale national pilot using existing customers that ran for many months and incorporated consumer feedback as well as internal measurement at all stages. The results proved the case for key elements of the proposition and were taken into the product development plan.
Implementation
Innovation Age delivered a new marketing data platform for RBS Insurance that removed the key constraints to creativity in their direct marketing activity and facilitated a new data-led test and learn approach to campaigns. The engagement involved shaping the proposition, building the business case, supporting senior stakeholders in gaining internal approval and managing the project to delivery.
This was a strategic development of a new capability and was delivered on time and under budget. Since launch it has delivered the expected savings in the marketing budget and Innovation Age continued to advise on uses of the new platform to support other innovation initiatives.
Portfolio Management
Innovation Age managed the portfolio of marketing innovation projects for Direct Line Group. The engagement involved constructing the portfolio from disparate lists of projects around the business, ensuring governance was applied that was appropriate to the project stage and providing regular reports on the overall state of the portfolio to senior stakeholders.
The consolidated view of the projects in the marketing portfolio contributed to the development of a company-wide strategic development plan supporting the creation of the new company.
